Health and Welfare Plan

Local 4’s Health and Welfare Plan provides a great platform of benefits for our participants. The Plan’s Trustees work hard to ensure that they actively combat medical inflation, with an eye toward the future, but that they also maintain today’s unparalleled care, low member costs, and innovative solutions such as Transform Diabetes Care®, Livongo for Hypertension, and Hinge Health for musculoskeletal ailments.

Defined Benefit Pension Plan

Local 4’s Defined Benefit Pension Plan provides vested members, qualified surviving spouses, and other beneficiaries with a guaranteed retirement benefit. In a defined benefit plan, the plan sponsor guarantees a specific retirement benefit amount for each vested participant. The amount is based on factors such as your years of service and the accrual rate in effect when you retire.

Annuity and Savings Plan

Local 4’s Annuity & Savings Plan provides an additional way to prepare for retirement through a participant-directed account at Fidelity comprised of employer contributions, with the option for members to also withhold their own wages as tax-deferred 401(k) contributions.

NOTE: The primary source of funding for Local 4 benefits are contributions to the plans made by employers through their collective bargaining agreements with Operating Engineers Local 4.
